Cornwall is fast laying claim to the 'Literary Festival County' title. Looe joins Penzance Literary Festival, Port Eliot Festival (formerly known as the Port Eliot Lit Festival), St. Ives, North Cornwall Literary Festival (Daymer Bay and St Endellion), Bodmin Moor Poetry Festival, the Chares Causley Festival (Launceston), Fowey Festival of Words and Music (formely the Daphne DuMaurier) and I believe there is a smaller affair at Newlyn each year. Missed any?
Gorgeous Looe has hung it' shingle up as offering a 'celebration of intellectual minds, thought, debate, literature, creativity and creatives' with Cornish hospitality and a breath of fresh Cornish sea air thrown in. Well, it can ertainly be quite bracing in November.
2014 is the inaugural event. The patrons are Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan (right).
