Port Eliot Festival

What? Previously known as the Port Eliot Lit Festival, the event was was founded by Peregrine St Germans and his wife, Catherine St Germans; actor and musician, Rick Worthy; and Simon Prosser, long time friend of Lady St Germans and the publishing director of Hamish Hamilton.

It features an eclectic mix of writers, poets, filmmakers and musicians and claims to be "one of Ganam_tahmimaBs most original, magical, bohemian, bookish, colourful, musical and comic festivals".

The line-up of writers booked for 2011 includes Hanif Kureishi, Tahmima Anam, Edmund de Waal, Justine Picardie, A.C. Grayling. Not bad.

Tahmima Anam will no doubt be spruiking her second book, The Good Muslim out in May. Hope that she can repeat the fine standard in her Commonwealth Writer's Prize winning first novel A Golden Age. It was translated into 22 languages no less.

We hope that Ms. Tahmima hasn't succumbed to the all too common 'second book after an award winning first effort anti-climax syndrome." Judging by the early reviews that isn't the case and looking at the synopsis it doesn't look like too bad a film script prospect either.....
