The Charles Causley Festival celebrates the life and work of Launceston's own poet, Charles Causley.

Poet Brian Patten will give a reading, joining The Bookshop Band to present a Saturday evening of poetry and music.
Cyprus Well former writers in residence Kathryn Simmonds and Alyson Hallett will provide more poetry and there will be workshops and readings from the Indian Kings poets.
Kneehigh Theatre’s AnnaMaria Murphy will return with Bagas Degol to perform music and stories. There is also story-telling from the Story Republic.
There are special sessions for lovers of crime fiction. Simon Hall, journalist and writer will talk about his detective novels, and local crime writers Sophie Hannah and Lee Weeks will give readings as well as discussing their work with Simon Hall. Then there is a Murder Mystery at the Museum based on the Poldark novels!
Nick Arnold will provide insights on his award winning Horrible Science books.
Sunday sees our own local version of Gardener’s Question Time. Indigo expert Jenny Balfour Paul will be talking about the history of indigo.
Launceston Youth Theatre will give three “pop-up” performances of The Emperor’s New Clothes, a short play reinterpreted by Charles Causley.
There’s also Luke Thompson on Jack Clemo, Laurence Green on Charles Causley and the usual wonderful Gwynngala exhibition. In addition, there will be a world premier preview of film about Charles Causley. Steve Keyworth will be giving a script writing workshop; Barry Newport, Charles Causley’s bibliographer will relate reminiscences of the poet.
Finally there will be a repeat of the Market and Food Festival in the Town square, and the walks and trips from last year will also be repeated.
