2014 saw the inaugural Winchester Poetry Festival. It had three integrated strands: it is rooted in the centenary commemoration of the First World War and its poetry, and it is a celebration of Hampshire’s contribution to our national literary heritage.
It brought together twenty contemporary poets, writers and editors for readings and discussions about, among other matters, the impact of conflict in poetry today. In addition, there were community and learning projects and preview events prior to the festival.
The event is a biennial affair.
