Stoke Newington Literary FestivalStoke Newington Literary Festival has been described as 'Unique... the proper London LitFest' (Irvine Welsh), 'The coolest literary festival of the summer' (Authonomy), and 'A lovingly curated, local-yet-global happening' (Robin Ince).
The festival celebrates the area's long history of literature (Edgar Allen Poe, Daniel Defoe, Mary Wollstonecraft & Anna Laetitia Barbauld lived here) and radical thinking (the Founding Fathers came through the area to pick up the latest ideas from the group of non-conformist academics who settled here). The festival is a non-profit organisation and is proud to support a range of literacy and community projects in Hackney.
