Crossing The Tees, is organised by library services across the Tees Valley including Stockton, Middlesbrough, Hartlepool and Darlington. The festival is programmed entirely by the library services with support from Arts Council England and local councils.
Highlights this year include talks and discussions with authors, poets and writers, a range of creative workshops and sessions for schools, plus plenty of opportunities to chat to writers from the region and beyond.
Frances Brody, Jenny Colgan and Stuart Cosgrove are just a few of the celebrated authors who will be giving talks on their books and share their writing experiences.
There will also be a string of writing workshops where writers will be sharing tips and ideas on how you can take your first steps in publishing.
History Wardrobe returns with a two sessions, one which looks at the history of the ‘white wedding’ and a very special Titanic themed session which will explore historic documents, jewellery and fashion pieces that were found on the famous wreck.
Poets Andy Willoughby and Andrew Forster will be performing their poetry, whilst Natalie Scott will be discussing poetic writing techniques, and you will have a chance to take part in creative writing sessions.
School audiences can delight in listening to award-winning bestselling authors illustrators, and there’s plenty of fun events for families to enjoy.
