The International Agatha Christie Festival
The Agatha Christie Festival has been a major event on the English Riviera since 2004. 2014 saw the festival enter a transition year – from the Agatha Christie Festival to the International Agatha Christie Festival.
The International Agatha Christie Festival (IACF) honours the novelist and playwright Dame Agatha Christie – known throughout the world as the “Queen of Crime”, still the most widely published author of all time, out-sold globally only by the Bible and Shakespeare and, in Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot, the creator of two of literature’s best known characters.
The festival takes place in the elegant seaside town of Torquay, in Devon, UK, where the author was born on 15 September 1890, grew up and first started to write and where visitors can explore many of the places which inspired settings for her stories, among them Greenway, the memorabilia-filled holiday home where she spent nearly every summer from 1938 until her death in 1976.
