The Lyric festival is the Faculty of Arts and Humanities’ annual celebration of the written and spoken word. Each May the festival brings some of the UK’s most renowned and respected writers, broadcasters, academics, and performers to the University, as well as showcasing the talent of Faculty students and staff.
Previous festivals have included musical performances, poetry readings, discussions and lectures by such celebrated poets and performers as Linton Kwesi Johnson, John Burnside, Carol Ann Duffy, John Agard, Jo Shapcott, Stuart Maconie, Penelope Shuttle, Don Patterson, Jackie Kay, Paul Morley, and Chris Wood.
