Lowestoft Library Literary Festival

Following the success of the event in 2013, 2014, 2015, the Friends of Lowestoft Library have announced that the Lowestoft Library Literary Festival is back once again in 2016 Excellent.

There are FREE Children’s and Adult Events held throughout the week with authors showcasing their work for your enjoyment.

2015 - Paul Heiney, Gillian McClure+

This year’s line-up includes:

Morning (tickets £2):

• Gillian McClure - Gillian is a popular children’s author and illustrator. In 2006-7 she was a New Writing Partnership Escalator judge/mentor, while she’s also been a Royal Literary Fund Writing Fellow at Kent University 2005-8 and Essex University 2011-12.

• Ivan Bunn - Ivan’s first book was a small pamphlet published in 1975 entitled Haunted Lowestoft. He’s also written about the Bury St. Edmunds witch trials and was an adviser for and appeared in the documentary Witchfinders. In 2004 he starred opposite Rory McGrath in the Witchfinder General episode of Bloody Britain and in 2014 he appeared in the Yesterday TV series Inquisition.

Afternoon (tickets £3):

• Paul Heiney - Paul is a well-known writer and broadcaster and over 30 years has appeared on all Britain’s major radio and television networks. You can catch him on ITV’s Countrywise,travelling to all parts of rural Britain to meet the people and hear their tales. He spent seven years on BBC1’s top-rated consumer affairs show, Watchdog, which continued a career in consumer journalism beginning with That’s Life in 1978, and continuing with Radio 4’s You and Yours. Paul also has over a dozen books to his credit, both fiction and non-fiction. His latest book Can Cows Walk Downstairs? has been a best-seller in 15 languages. He has written on rural, maritime and farming matters, and more recently on popular science.

• Tasha O’Neill - Tasha is the author of the popular young adult Nymet Chronicles. She was born in Cambridge and now lives near Woodbridge. Her influences include Helen Dunmore, Eoin Colfer, Michelle Paver and Susan Cooper.

• Brian Scovell - Brian has written dozens of football and cricket books, often with famous names such as Brian Lara, Don Howe, Lawrie McMenemy and Terry Neil.
