2014 - Among those appearing will be authors Will Self, Stella Duffy, Kate Colquhoun and Jeremy Page. There will be an evening with poet and polymath, Mike Harding, and more poetry from Joan McGavin, Martin Malone, Harry Haines, The Spring Poets and Rhymes with Orange. Music leavens the mix as well. Iconic folklorist Dave Arthur will talk about the history of English song as well as bringing his band, Rattle on the Stove Pipe, for a Sunday afternoon Ceilidh. There are talks on the songs of Dibden and a pub sing-a-long of folk songs and shanties from the Victory Morris Singers. For theatre lovers, the festival also sees the return of the wonderful Propeller Theatre with two performances of their pocket version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Audiences can enjoy a new version of the Ghost Walk, this year provided by the Hum Drum theatre group, and a theatre and poetry extravaganza promenade that navigates the town via its pubs to finish in the Havant Brewery. Children’s theatre is represented with a touring production of Michael Morpurgo’s I Believe in Unicorns. Look out for other children’s events, including story-telling in the Libraries. The fesitval is also delighted to be able to contribute to Black History Month with a visit from the historian of recent black history in the UK, Stephen Bourne.
