Do Not Go Gently - Music & Literary FestivalA celebration of the legendary Welsh poet, Dylan Thomas,in his home suburb of the Uplands Swansea. A festival Dylan might have liked, and yes that involves beer, but it also involves cosy and atmospheric venues, great acts and the lovely people of Swansea who first inspired him to write all those years ago.
Born in 1914 at 5 Cwmdonkin Drive in the Uplands, it was in this area of Swansea that Dylan was born and spent the formative years of his life. Although he moved away to London and beyond, much of his most important work was written while he lived here, and he never forgot his early days spent in this area, later writing nostalgically to his old school friend, Daniel Jones, of wanting to….”go back to the Uplands….and found there, for good and for all, a permanent colony: living there until we are old gentlemen, with occasional visits to London and Paris, we shall lead the lives of small-town anti-society….
