The Alderney Literary Festival is a boutique event focusing on historical literature. Every year, the organisers invite novelists, historians, and biographers to talk about their books and the convergence of historical fact and literary fiction.

Where? The Festival is held on the lovely Channel Island of Alderney in the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
Who? 2016 Festival speakers include Edward Chaney, Kevin Crossley-Holland, Susan Grossey, David Lough, Karen Maitland, Dame Stella Rimington, William Ryan, Simon Scarrow (Festival Chairman), Gary Sheffield & Harry Sidebottom.

Founded? Alderney’s first ever Literary Festival took place in 19-22 March 2015. Entitled "History - Facts and Fiction", the 4-day gathering set out to be an intimate affair, on a smaller and less commercial scale than many other literary events.

he events included talks, presentations, forums, discussion panels, “In the Spotlight” interviews, book signings and workshops, headed by prominent historians, radio & TV presenters a
nd best-selling historical fiction writers Tom Holland ; Prof.Tim Thornton ;Dr. Marc Morris ; Prof. Lloyd Clark ; Adrian Murdoch; Clare Mulley (right) as well as best-selling historical fiction authors Carol McGrath ; M.C. Scott ; Simon Scarrow; Danuta Reah; Adrian Murdoch and Alderney-based thriller writer Rachel Abbott; Dr. Irving Finkel, author of “The Ark before Noah” will also be presenting.
In addition to literary sessions, presentation and workshops, the programme of events from 20 to 22 March there will include guided tours of historic buildings by Alderney historian Dr. Trevor Davenport , historical film suppers at the Braye Beach Hotel and film nights at the Alderney Cinema showing historical movies, a nocturnal encounter with the ghosts haunting Fort Tourgis staged by the Alderney Theatre Group, and a Roman Banquet Festival Dinner with a surprise guest speaker on Saturday evening 21 March at the Braye Beach Hotel.
