Following the success of their history/literary talks and concerts in the local Norman church, Festival Directors, William Cash and Lady Laura Cathcart expanded their talks programme to celebrate the very best of heritage, books, artisan life, architecture and music – combined with delicious local Shropshire food.
The sellout inaugural Upton Cressett Literary and History Festival, held in 2019, celebrated the creative spirit of the Upton Cressett Literary Foundation, a unique writers’ retreat, which is now in its ninth year, with guest fellows having included several award winning writers and playwrights.
Upper Cressett has an impressive literary pedigree. Writers who have stayed or visited Upton Cressett include Andrew Roberts, Boris Johnson, Margaret Thatcher, Sebastian Faulks, John Osborne, Philip Kerr, Nicholas Coleridge, Lara Feigel, and Dr Katherine Swift.
