Anna Maria Espsäter- (pen name AM Hellberg Moberg)

Anna Maria Espsäter is a UK-based, Swedish, multi-genre, multi-lingual writer. She started writing stories and poems in Swedish and English from a young age, but as an anna_maria_espateradult her love of travel initially led her to take up travel writing. For over a decade, she travelled extensively, covering worldwide destinations for guidebook publishers, magazines and newspapers. She’s worked on over 20 books and had some 450 features published, often focusing on Latin America or Scandinavia.

Since 2016 she’s divided her time between travel writing and fiction, working on two novels, a collection of short stories and a bilingual book of poetry, all of which she’s aiming to publish independently under the pen name AM Hellberg Moberg.

Her first work of fiction was“How Pat Got Her Five Cats – A Tale For Cat Lovers”. She describes it as “a book for all cat lovers, particularly suited to a younger audience, but giving readers of any age a fair few chuckles.”

Her second, “Boldly Into Darkness Go” is a collection of short stories that invites the reader to take a journey into their lives and dig a little bit deeper, to see what’s beneath the surface.

Cats feature heavily in many of her stories, as do exciting worldwide locations, a pair of aging detectives and some very tasty culinary adventures.

In addition to her written work she gives talks at travel shows, private functions and literary festivals, often accompanying these with her own travel photography from around the world.

In these twelve tales, good friends go on an unexpected journey of discovery to Sweden at Midsummer, a young girl explores her love of the dark, a group celebrates an unusual anniversary and a woman is faced with past trauma attending her best friend’s funeral. boldly_into_darkness“Boldly Into Darkness Go” invites the reader to take a journey into their lives and dig a little bit deeper, to see what’s beneath the surface.

Some of the characters have their own “coming out” journey to make, some stories are sad and pensive, others angry and fraught, some are even a little bit wild and wicked. The overriding theme is love in all its guises; romantic, family and self-love, but the stories also touch upon the complex issues of fear, jealousy, sexual politics, control, revenge and loneliness.
