Anna Chelmicka

-

Since retiring from 30 years teaching in primary schools Anna was keen to pursue various diverse interests. These include dog breeding, writing, photography and travelling around the UK and Europe in her motorhome with her dogs.  She has also been fortunate enough to work occasionally as a film and TV extra.

Surprisingly the catalyst for Anna to start writing was her dogs.  She found there was littleanna-chelmicka information regarding camping and dogs so wrote articles of her findings.  These were first published in “Out and About”.  Unfortunately after a couple of years this new publication folded.

She then provided a column in the “Bristol Evening Post”.  This promoted women’s sport with a weekly page of coverage reporting on netball matches played by local teams together with accompanying photographs.

Upon her first dog, Ruby’s demise, Anna wrote, in 2015, her first book “My Friend Ruby” chronicling their time together.  She continued travelling in her motorhome with her other dog Amber exploring the countryside.

In 2016  “Motohome Monthly Magazine” (MMM)  published a series of her articles entitled “Wonderful Walks” about walks from campsites.  She thoroughly enjoyed researching for these articles. It is these walks which she used as the basis for her next book “Wonderful Walks from Dog-friendly Campsites throughout the UK”

She is currently researching for her third book

In her first book Anna records her life with her first dog Ruby.  She wanted to remember the many ways Ruby so enriched her life helping her to recover from a life changing illness and adjust to the changed circumstances in which she found herself.   Her life today would be very different if Ruby had not become part of the family.

Anna’s second book uniquely combines the joys of camping with the delights of walking with your dog.   In addition to identifying the distinctive characteristics of the area, there are detailed instructions for two walks of varying lengths from each of the 22 campsite providing the opportunity to explore the area in the immediate vicinity of the campsite, and appreciate the diverse environment to be found in Britain.
