2011 Festival
The third time around the block for the World Literature weekend held at the London Review of Books Bookshop in Bloomsbury, the British Museum and the Horse Hospital.
Highlights of this year's festival include Cees Nooteboom in conversation with A.S. Byatt, Austrian literary star Daniel Kehlmann in conversation with Benjamin Markovits, and events with Javier Cercas, Manuel Rivas, and the Poet Laureate of the Netherlands, Ramsey Nasr. There'll be a discussion around minority languages with three very different Catalan authors, a look at our fascination with crime fiction with two winners of the premier Nordic crime writing award, Karin Alvtegen and Hakan Nesser, and a Live Translation event, following on from the success of last year's.
For those of you who want to plunge deeper into literary translation, the event is offering a series of half-day masterclasses with top translators Paul Starkey (Arabic), Tim Parks (Italian), Peter Bush (Spanish), Shaun Whiteside (German), Robert Chandler (Russian) and Jeremy Harding and John Sturrock (French).
Unwind on the Friday and Saturday nights with music at the Horse Hospital from Monookaís Caravan and Kitty Garden, and DJs Garth Cartwright and Nick Richardson.
