Author Biography- Alison Weir

Alison Weir - was born and bred at Westminsterand now reside in Surrey. She has been married to Rankin Weir since 1972, and they have two children, John (born 1982) and Kate (born 1984). She was educated at the City of London School for Girls and the North Western Polytechnic.

Her very readible and accesible books deal with the Royal Families of Europe throughout history. Well researched, with a bit of spice, she is an extremely popular author.

She describes herself as a writer of 'popular' history a term, she sugests, that has sometimes been used in a derogatory sense by a few people who should know better, because all historians use much the same sources. If the overwhelmingly postive response from the public is anything to go by, Ms. Weir has nothing to worry about as far as her aproach to the subject matter is concerend.
