The Stratford Literary Festival, which holds its annual Felix Dennis Creative Writing Prize and publishes the winning entries in a Festival book, is offering students the chance to design a winning cover.
The winner will not only receive a cash prize and see their work published, they will have the opportunity to learn about book jacket design in the art department of a major UK publishing house, Transworld Publishers, part of the Penguin Random House Group, who are offering a week’s paid work placement at their Ealing office.
The competition, which is open to all students of design, graphic design, photography or art (or related courses) currently studying in the UK and aged 18 or over, is a unique opportunity to add a project to a portfolio to demonstrate skills, and to show future employers.
‘Eye catching book jacket design is more important than ever,’ says Annie Ashworth, Director of the Festival which celebrates its 10th year this year. ‘We have run a jacket design competition for several years, but this is the first year we have been able to include a work placement and we are very grateful to Transworld.’
Susanna Wadeson, Publishing Director of Transworld Publishers added: ‘We are delighted to be offering the winning student the opportunity to see how publishing works close up and to encourage young people to consider publishing as a career.’
The deadline for entries is 2nd March 2017 and full details can be found here: http://bit.ly/1RPNSwR
